Days start getting shorter in the northern hemisphere after summer solstice in June, and they stop getting shorter on the winter solstice, 21.st of December when they resume getting longer.

August still bringing some great weather

Formula off-road took place in Akureyri this weekend - a racing form that originated in Iceland but has spread to the Nordic countries as well.

Summer solstice was celebrated in Grímsey island as usual this year.

Akureyri Geothermal Pool will re-open next Monday (18th May), but it has been closed since 24th March due to COVID-19.

This sweater was knit by my mother who is alive and very important to me too. My father was wearing it during the 80s. Last time I visited my parents' place in Tekirdağ, west of Istanbul, I found this jumper and decided to take it with me for my 6th travel to Iceland. It keeps me warm and in some ways, it means that my father travels here with me too,“ says Hazal in a short interview with Visitakureyri.is.
