To day is winter solstice. The longest night of the year and the shortest day - in Grímsey which is Iceland's northernmost part - sunrise is around 12.00 and sunset at 14.15 – or only about 2 hours daylight. Tomorrow days start to lengthen again, little by little – until summer solstice when Grímsey enjoys 24 hours daylight. The photo is from summer solstice – when the midnight-sun only just touches the ocean before it starts rising again);-)
