Extensive renovations of the house of Shark-Jörundur and redesign of all exhibitions in the building took place this year. The house is in the island of Hrísey and is the oldest building on the island, which is know for its many colorful old wooden buildings. To celebrate this milestone locals and guests were invited to visit the house last week.
The exhibitions in the house tell the history of the island and it's people as well as the history of shark fishing in Iceland in earlier centuries. The house is open during summer from 1st June till 31st August and for groups during other times of the year.
Hrisey island is about 30 min drive + 15 min ferry sailing from Akureyri. For further details visit their web page
