Mt Hlíðarfjall ski resort opens its alpine area today 16th December. Skiers can finally start the skiing season at 16.00
After an extreme mild autumn, the ski resort can finally be opened, and the weather forecast looks promising with a lot of snow in the prognoses.
Mt. Hlíðarfjall, the ski resort of Akureyri, is situated just 5km outside of town. It’s Iceland’s most popular and most advanced ski resort. The ski area has a vertical drop of 537m, and the longest trail is more than 2.5km long. It is equipped with eight ski lifts and 23 alpine slopes. “Snow cannons” ensure an early opening of the season.
