Extended flight season

The British airline easyJet has decided to extend its flight season between Akureyri and Gatwick Airport in London by a month, both this spring and next autumn (including both April and October 2025). This was announced by Ali Gayward, Regional Director of easyJet in the UK, at the aviation conference held in Akureyri earlier this week.
"We are really pleased to announce this growth, expanding the availability and providing our customers with more choice and flexibility for their trips to meet what we see as a growing demand that we’re now seeing for North Iceland.
In general, we’ve seen increasing demand since last year on our Gatwick route and with the addition of our Manchester connection for our customers throughout the northwest of England we can now reach a much wider audience.
We’re obviously continuing to monitor how demand for these new flights grows but confident that it will be a success from what we’ve seen in the early days of the flights operating.
We see demand for Iceland flying from the UK market is generally stronger in winter than it is from Summer hence why we’re focusing on winter" says Ali Gayward.
