Breaking records

This past summer was the warmest and sunniest summer in Akureyri since recordings began.

The beginning of the summer was cold with a chilly June, but both July and August were breakings records in temperatures and in sunlight hours. The average temperature for both July and August was over +14 °C which is about 1 degree higher than the last record, measured in 1947.
