In January 2020 Grímsey had about 60 inhabitants. The island is popular place to visit, especially during the summer months, because of the Arctic Circle, the magical midnight sun and rich bird life, including the puffins and large number of cliff nesting birds. The island holds 3 guesthouses, campsite, a restaurant, coffee shop, a small store, airport and a ferry harbor.
