Drive to Þeistareykja power station. Set off from there and cycle south along Bæjarfjall, then east south of Kvíhólafjöll and Þórunnarfjöll east to Gjástykki and north along it until you turn west, all on old trails. We will visit Stóra-Víti, which is a huge explosive crater, about 300 m in diameter. From there, the path continues to the west and down Bóndhólskard to Þeystareyjavirkjun. Those who have a transport bracket for bikes use it, others can have the bikes transported on a bike trailer.
Distance: 35-40 km. There is an insignificant elevation increase in this route.
