Saturday, December 14 at 14 will be offered a guided tour of the exhibition Átthagamálverkið: On a tour of the Northeast of the past century and admission is included in the ticket price of the Art Gallery. (in icelandic)

We travel through the Northeast through a history that spans over a century. We stop and look at fjords, valleys, villages and towns through the eyes of people who know better than anyone else. These are Eighthage paintings painted with love and warmth, filled with a sense of place and memories of the past. It just so happens that on this trip we are unusually lucky with the weather!

Here, trained artists as well as self-educated enthusiasts use the brush and create works in a personal conversation with places and memories. The driving force is a sincere desire to show and tell, deepen connections, remember and preserve, rather than dealing with trends and trends in an art historical context. At the exhibition, you can see, among other things, the childhood works of nationally known artists as well as works by people from different walks of life, some of whom first started painting before retiring. Some are beloved artists in their hometown, others are loners who have gone their own way in art. The works show home pastures, childhood paths or places that have been close to these artists.
