Kerling: Seven Summit Hike

Kerling: Seven Summit Hike

The journey begins with private cars to the parking area at Súluveg, where the cars will be left.

The journey begins with private cars to the parking area at Súluveg, where the cars will be left. A bus will then take participants to Finnastöðum, from where the hike begins. The goal is to reach Kerling (1538 m), the highest mountain in inhabited Iceland. From there, hikers will head north over the summits: Hverfanda (1320 m), Þríklökkum (1360 m), Bónda (1350 m), Litla Krumma, Stóra Krumma, Syðri-Súlu (1213 m), Ytri-Súlu (1143 m), and finally descend into Glerárdal where the cars will be waiting.

This is a challenging hike, marked as a "four-shoe" trip, and participants should be in good physical condition. The hike can take up to 12 hours, depending on the group, conditions, and weather. It's essential to dress for the weather, bring a good, energy-rich snack for the day, and carry enough water, as finding water on the trail is not guaranteed. It's also recommended to bring crampons.
