Herðubreiðarlindir - Bræðrafell - Askja

The journey begins with a bus ride to Herðubreiðarlindir. Accommodation is in FFA huts at Bræðrafell and Drekagil. Participants must carry all their belongings, so packing carefully is essential. The route passes through a unique landscape of lava formations, barren terrain, vibrant colors, and peaceful surroundings, with the majestic presence of Herðubreið nearby.
Day 1 (Sunday): Travel to Herðubreiðarlindir. After a coffee break, hike through easy lava fields to Bræðrafell and stay overnight in the hut. Participants must bring water for the day.
Distance: 19 km.
Day 2 (Monday): Hike up Kollóttudyngja and explore Bræðrafell. Stay another night in the Bræðrafell hut.
Distance: 8–12 km.
Day 3 (Tuesday): Hike from Bræðrafell to Drekagil. Overnight in the FFA hut at Drekagil.
Distance: 21–22 km.
Day 4 (Wednesday): Hike from Drekagil over Dyngjufjöll to Askja. Return home in the evening.
Distance: 10–11 km.
