The hike begins at the gravel pit along the main road between Ystuvík and Fagrabær. We will hike up to Ystuvíkurfjall and head north towards Kræðufell, then descend into Fagrabæjargil (steep and scree) before climbing up to Dýrðarnípa, crossing over to Dýrðarbunga, and finishing at Laufáshnjúkur. The last 300 meters involve some scrambling. Finally, we will descend from Laufáshnjúkur, where vehicles will be waiting, but we first need to transport the cars to that location. The view from the mountains is expansive and stunning, with a beautiful sight to the south and north. At this time of year, you can expect a beautiful sunset as well. Only part of the trail is marked.
