In celebration of the Children's Culture Festival, Amtsbókasafnið and Ocean Missions invite cheerful kids to participate in a recycling art workshop.
The workshop will use materials collected during a beach cleanup the day before. This cleanup gathers various debris that we definitely don't want in the ocean or on the shore but can be perfect for creative art projects! Examples include fishing buoys, floats, net scraps, and various plastic and metal waste.
All materials will be provided on-site, including paint, Posca markers, glue guns, and glue sticks. Additionally, there will be a short, child-friendly educational session about marine life in Eyjafjörður and the importance of taking good care of our ocean.
After the workshop, an exhibition featuring the children's artworks will be set up and remain on display throughout April.
This event is also part of "Week 17," a library initiative raising awareness about the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The event is supported by the Children's Culture Fund of Akureyri.
