Boreal Screendace Festival was founded in 2020 as an alternative approach to a traditional dance festival. Creating the project was a bold and spontaneous move as well as a beautiful way to create an international network in dance arts unprecedented to Iceland’s northern capital of Akureyri.
Boreal strives to spread screendance and experimental video art in northern Iceland with the aim to inspire new audiences and future generations through the fascinating blend of dance and multimedia.
The festival takes place in November each year in the Akureyri Art Museum, Gallery Deiglan and Mjólkurbúðin Gallery.
