The Children’s Culture Festival - takes place 1st - 30th April 2024. The festival includes concerts, visual art, exhibitions, various happenings, and outdoor art.

For those that want to take part with events it is possible to apply for funds. It is opened for applications in August for next years festival.
To apply for project grants for 2024 festival - it is available until November 22, 2023
Grants are ranging from 20,000 - 300,000 ISK.
The aim of the support is to support children and young people to actively participate in cultural activities during the festival and to give them the opportunity to enjoy art and culture. The application form can be found under on the Akureyri town's service portal.

The goal of the Children's Culture Festival in Akureyri is to encourage children and young people to actively participate in cultural activities and provide them with the opportunity to enjoy art and culture. Special emphasis is placed on projects that promote creativity. Every year, the entire month of April is dedicated to the Children's Culture Festival in Akureyri.
The guiding principles of the festival are professionalism, diversity, equality and good access for all children and young people. The venue of the festival is Akureyri and we strive to use exciting and interesting spaces where children can create, enjoy, show and interpret. The principle is that access to events is free.
The Children's Culture Festival in Akureyri takes into account the objectives of the Culture Policy of the City of Akureyri and the action plan of the child-friendly municipality.
