The house Sigurhæðir was built in 1903 for Guðrún Runólfsdóttir and Matthías Jochumsson, artist, poet, pastor and social reformer. They lived a simple and an enriching artistic live here with their family until 1925. For the last century, the house has been a home, cultural spot or a museum. The house is now owned by Akureyri municipality.

Since 2022 Flóra - culture house is located in Sigurhæðir. Studios for artists and creative minds are on the 2nd floor. The main floor and the surroundings are open to the public to connect to our cultural roots and experience fresh art and cultural work.

From 12 may to 12 November 2024: Open every day 9am - 3pm
