The three old bridges across the Eyjarfjarðará (River of Eyjafjörður), near the domestic airport, were built in 1923 and retired in 1986 for cars.
Despite not being used for cars, the trail is still popular for outdoor activities as a route for cycling and hiking.
Please note that this route is frequently used for horse-riding. Pedestrians are asked to respect the horses, such as letting them cross the bridge first without interruptions and don't startle or stop them.
