An ideal route for those who like staying on asphalt but don't mind going on gravel to see more of the countryside.
The route starts from Hof's parking lot in south following the bicycle trail Strandstígur along the Drottningarbraut into the fjord. Passing Hrafnagil on the west side of the fjord, if the cyclist wish to take a detour to try out farmmade ice-cream from Holtsel by going up Finnstaðavegur (nr.824).
Return back on the main road and perhaps take another break to see the church of Grund, Grundarkirkja (1905).
Passing Melgerði there will be a bridge, Stíflubrú, across the river leading to the east side of the Fjord, from there will be gravel roads until you've reached the farm Akur - then you're back on bound pavement.
Continue on Eyjafjarðabraut (nr.829) until reached on crossroad of Leiruvegur, take a left turn in the direction of the bridge and Akureyri, then take a right turn until you've reached back to Hof.
