Vestmannaeyjar native Unnar Gísli Sigurmundsson began strumming a guitar in his twenties and quickly found his passion in music. Performing under the name Júníus Meyvant, he released his first song, "Color Decay," in 2014. The track immediately gained worldwide attention, even becoming the featured song of the day on Seattle's KEXP radio station.

Since then, Júníus Meyvant has continued to capture hearts and minds globally with songs like "Signals," "Gold Laces," and "Ain't Gonna Let You Drown." His career now spans three LPs and two EPs. Júníus Meyvant's folk music is heartwarming, warm, and familiar, reflecting the unhealed essence of Unnar. His sound is rich and textured, characterized by a husky voice, captivating guitar playing, tight rhythms, and the layered sounds of trumpets, keyboards, and mellotron.
